Finally, the *real* argument against Obama\u2019s prayer breakfast remarks!<\/p>\n

What wearies me about the Right Wing Noise Machine is that the constant Boy Who Cries Wolf hysteria it gins up about stupid stuff (\u201cSecret Muslim Obama compares Catholic Church to ISIS!!!!\u201d \u201cThe Crusades were glorious and morally spotless exercises of Christian virtue!!!\u201d \u201cThe Sack of Constantinople Should Be a Feast Day!\u201d<\/a>) masks the actual real critique to be made of a President who has arrogated to himself the power to murder anybody on planet earth\u2013citizen and civilian or not\u2013His Imperial Majesty likes and rub them out by his unilateral and entirely unaccountable will alone. If Obama is really so worried about the sins of Christians (and Obama is a garden variety, lefty, progressive Christian, not a Muslim), he should start there. Confessing the sins of other, long dead, Christians is not a serious moral reckoning, Mr. President. It\u2019s an age-old dodge for which Jesus had stern words:<\/p>\n

\u201cWoe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for you build the tombs of the prophets and adorn the monuments of the righteous, saying, \u2018If we had lived in the days of our fathers, we would not have taken part with them in shedding the blood of the prophets.\u2019 Thus you witness against yourselves, that you are sons of those who murdered the prophets. Fill up, then, the measure of your fathers. You serpents, you brood of vipers, how are you to escape being sentenced to hell? Therefore I send you prophets and wise men and scribes, some of whom you will kill and crucify, and some you will scourge in your synagogues and persecute from town to town, that upon you may come all the righteous blood shed on earth, from the blood of innocent Abel to the blood of Zechariah the son of Barachiah, whom you murdered between the sanctuary and the altar. The thing is, the Right Wing Noise Machine is dominated by people like Dick Cheney who believe the ends justify the means and that torturing and even murdering innocent people is fine.<\/a> So they tend not to draw too much attention to when Obama does it and instead invent other stuff for consumers of their Panic du Jour to have hysterics about.<\/p>\n<\/body><\/html>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
