A reader writes:<\/p>\n

Could you ask your readers to pray for my brother Damien?<\/p>\n

He\u2019s been mentally ill for many years, and hanged himself on Friday. His neck is unbroken, but his brain seems to have suffered oxygen deprivation. Barring a miracle in the next couple days, the doctors don\u2019t hold out much hope.<\/p>\n

He also needs to know the Lord. He\u2019s baptized but has never expressed any faith.<\/p>\n

Father, grant Damien either a miracle of healing or the grace of a happy death through Christ our Lord. \u00a0Mother Mary, pray for him and for all who love him. \u00a0Amen.<\/p>\n

I am sending you this<\/a>\u00a0because it seems to me (maybe it is just me?) that we need to pray for Pope Francis current trip. I find it hard to imagine a 78 year old man, with only one lung, if my memory is correct, doing 4 or 5 public events a day, in at least 7 different cities, for 8 days, plus the fatigue of the trip and the problems with changes in altitude. Please let\u2019s pray for his health to keep up with this schedule.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
