<\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Now he risks the wrath of the Movement Conservative Hivemind at FOX by (gasp!) saying nice things about Francis\u2019s positions on Unapproved Subjects (basically anything apart from Pelvic Issues):<\/p>\n<p><iframe style=\"width:120px;height:240px;\" marginwidth=\"0\" marginheight=\"0\" scrolling=\"no\" frameborder=\"0\" src=\"\/\/ws-na.amazon-adsystem.com\/widgets\/q?ServiceVersion=20070822&OneJS=1&Operation=GetAdHtml&MarketPlace=US&source=ss&ref=ss_til&ad_type=product_link&tracking_id=marksheacom-20&marketplace=amazon&region=US&placement=B013SLNRV6&asins=B013SLNRV6&linkId=KUA6KUSQYDXZANWF&show_border=true&link_opens_in_new_window=true\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>I would put it slightly differently and say that these *are* political issues, but that they are also moral and spiritual ones too.<\/p>\n<p>It is a curious superstition that has grown up on the right that money and its uses have no moral or spiritual dimension, only sexuality. Jesus, in fact, talks about money constantly. He uses it to illustrate parables, he warns the rich of the immense spiritual danger it poses, he lays down flat either\/or ultimatums to Mammon worshippers to the effect that it\u2019s God or Money, so choose.<\/p>\n<p>And his investment advice: shocking. Give to *anybody* who asks (not the \u201cdeserving\u201d). When you give, make a special effort to make *sure* that the people you give to are the ones who will *never* give you a return on your investment. Taxes? Pay \u2019em. Forgive debts. Don\u2019t worry about it. You can\u2019t add a cubit to your height and God has you covered, so don\u2019t sweat it.<\/p>\n<p>Scary? Of course. I don\u2019t much like a lot of it either. But my point is not \u201cLike it.\u201d My point is that when conservatives say, \u201cThe pope should stick to spiritual issues and not economics\u201d they make extremely clear that they have not
