But here\u2019s the thing: with the Faith, you are\u2013very, very carefully\u2013not making stuff up.\u00a0 Indeed, the whole point of writing about the Faith is to be as unoriginal as you can possibly be.\u00a0 My goal in writing about the Faith is not to invent but to hand on something as accurately as I can.\u00a0 As I am fond of saying, the great thing about being Catholic is that you can plagiarize and call it \u201cbeing faithful to the Tradition\u201d.<\/p>\n

But with fiction?\u00a0 Man!\u00a0 That\u2019s hard.\u00a0 You aren\u2019t just repeating (and translating) a Tradition you didn\u2019t invent so that people can hear it and understand it.\u00a0 You are creating a world from whole cloth!\u00a0 People who never existed.\u00a0 Things that never happened.\u00a0 Things that could<\/em> never happen.<\/p>\n\u00a0<\/p>\n
