In my youth, like many youth, I traveled the country by thumb. Scary moments. Wondrous adventures. Remind me to tell you some time about the time I was picked up by the two guys who had been contracted by the owner of a car to steal the car and dump it in a lake, but decided to double their profits by driving it to Mexico\u2026<\/p>\n
My travels have become a bit less exciting in recent years\u2026<\/p>\n
Still, this has been quite the summer in our household.<\/p>\n
First eight days in Los Angeles visiting family and exploring some of the wonders of Southern California, featuring for us most excitingly the second half of that traveling Hakuin exhibit. Now a long weekend in Vermont. And, later, a voyage to the center of the heart with a seven day Zen meditation retreat in Worcester. A tad later I\u2019ll be flying to San Francisco to attend a Zen teacher conference and maybe visit a few friends into the deal\u2026<\/p>\n
With all this crowding around in my head I find myself ruminating on traveling, on trips, on getting that bit of fresh air, clearing the cobwebs, seeing things anew\u2026<\/p>\n
I do love the summer and the possibilities that open up when we are able to do a little travel.<\/p>\n
Knowing, of course, deep in my bones how this sort of thing is a privilege not enough people get in this life.<\/p>\n
But for those of us who do, enjoy, be grateful. Don\u2019t take it for granted.<\/p>\n

Makes one wonder why they say you can\u2019t get there from here\u2026<\/p>\n
