<\/a>The middle way of spiritual inquiry.<\/p>\n
I recall a story I read about a modern day alchemist whom the writer suggested would entertain any concept, if it were sufficiently unlikely. We need to resist having minds so open our brains are in danger of falling out. Nor, at the other end, to be like Heinrich Schliemann, the amateur archeologist who dug right through Troy, destroying most of it, while on his quest. On the spiritual quest we need to be aware of the danger of missing the forest for the trees.<\/p>\n
We can and need to do preliminary sorts about all sorts of things, and can do so without much danger to our intellectual or spiritual integrity. Me, I\u2019m going to live in the world as if it behaves properly and follows generally accepted rules of Newtonian physics, even while understanding these rules only apply at our time and place. But, I also need to be prepared, or perhaps it would be better to say, I need to be willing to be surprised. Particularly walking the way of meaning and purpose in life.<\/p>\n
