\nWell, sort of. Okay, it should be.<\/p>\n

It was, after all, on this day in 1903 that Ruth Graves Wakefield was born. <\/p>\n

And the glorious Ms Wakefield is credited with creating the \u201cToll House Chocolate Crunch Cookie.\u201d The recipe was included in the 1938 edition of her constant best seller the Toll House Tried and True Recipes<\/em>. And as best anyone can tell this was the first instance when anyone thought of including chocolate chips in their cookies.<\/p>\n

\nAccording to Wikipedia, \u201cAs the popularity of the Toll House Chocolate Crunch Cookie increased, the sales of Nestl\u00e9\u2019s semi-sweet chocolate bars also spiked. Andrew Nestl\u00e9 and Ruth Wakefield made a business arrangement: Wakefield gave Nestl\u00e9 the right to use her cookie recipe and the Toll House name for one dollar and a lifetime supply of Nestl\u00e9 chocolate. Nestl\u00e9 began marketing chocolate chips to be used especially for cookies and printing the recipe for the Toll House Cookie on its package.\u201d<\/p>\n

And, well, that brings us to today, which should be International East a Chocolate Chip Cookie Day.<\/p>\n

A day we should all carry in our hearts. No, wait. A day we should all pause and eat a cookie of the chocolate chip variety\u2026<\/p>\n
