One of my favorite bloggers, Danny Fisher<\/a>, just wrote how \u201cOver at Barbara\u2019s Buddhism<\/a> Blog, author Barbara O\u2019Brien<\/a> notes that the first and only two Buddhists in Congress\u2013Rep. Mazie Hirono<\/a> (D-HI) and Rep. Hank Johnson<\/a> (D-GA)\u2013won re-election yesterday.\u201d<\/p>\n

Both are Democrats. Both stand within the Mahayana<\/a> expression of Buddhism. Representative Hirono belongs to a branch of the Pure Land<\/a> tradition and Representative Johnson belongs to a branch of the Lotus Sutra<\/a> tradition.<\/p>\n

If, in two years, we can elect a third, perhaps they can form a caucus\u2026<\/p>\n
