\"\"<\/a>I notice how Herman Hesse<\/span><\/a> died on this day in 1962. Only a few years later I would stumble upon a copy of his novel Demien<\/span><\/a>. It was an earth shaking document for me. I\u2019d been schooled in Science Fiction and thought it revolutionary. But with Hesse I found what revolution could really be and the parameters of my mind pushed ever farther.<\/p>\n

Not long after I read Siddhartha<\/span><\/a>. I have to admit it didn\u2019t influence me as much as it has many others of my fellow spiritual travelers, but that doesn\u2019t mean it wasn\u2019t a significant marker.<\/p>\n

And it didn\u2019t end there\u2026<\/p>\n

It took three runs at it, but Steppenwolf<\/span><\/a> would deeply influence me, as would Journey to the East<\/span><\/a> and the Glass Bead Game<\/span><\/a>.<\/p>\n

Quite a lot for a young mind searching for a new way\u2026<\/p>\n
