As I understand it, after knocking the socks off the listening public on a radio show in 1936, the next year on this day the ventriloquist Edgar Bergen<\/a> & his wooden partner Charlie McCarthy were given a regular spot on the Chase and Sanborn Hour.<\/p>\n

I\u2019m totally flummoxed at how a ventriloquist act was a radio hit. And! It lasted until 1956\u2026<\/p>\n

It is all kind of cool.<\/p>\n
