Today is the anniversary of that moment in 1918 when the English Parliament\u2019s act granting the vote to \u201cwomen over the age of thirty who were householders, the wives of householders, occupiers of property with an annual rent of five pounds, and graduates of British universities\u201d took effect.<\/p>\n
It was not quite the culmination of a fierce struggle. That wouldn\u2019t be won\u00a0until 1928<\/a> when all women over the age of twenty-one were granted the vote.<\/p>\n Still, an important marker. And, an important reminder of how recently it all happened. And, in our times, perhaps, how precarious it all is\u2026<\/p>\n
