In particular I\u2019ve been reflecting on the maps various teachers have offered. One of my favorites is from the Zen master Dosho Port:<\/em><\/p>\n<p>The Zen development theory I offer follows these major stages:<\/p>\n<p>1) idealization<\/p>\n<p>2) covert clinging to hopes for magical gain<\/p>\n<p>3) extreme crabbiness at self and others<\/p>\n<p>4) steadily walking without getting anywhere<\/p>\n<p>5) experiencing fruition<\/p>\n<p>6) falling into a well<\/p>\n<p>And then, of course, the spiral stages repeat.<\/p>\n<p>From <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nebraskazencenter.org\/our-teachers.html\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">Dosho Port\u2019s<\/a>\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.wisdompubs.org\/book\/keep-me-your-heart-while\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\"><em>Keep Me in Your Heart A While<\/em><\/a><\/p>\n<p><i>Me, I love some of the details like seeking magical gain, and crabbiness, and very, very much our falling into that well; all so true. And.
