On Facebook today Zen teacher Renshin Bunce cited a version of a classic Zen text from another teacher on the great way Koshin Paley Ellison.<\/p>\n

Let me respectfully remind you:
\nLife and Death are of supreme importance.
\nTime swiftly passes by and opportunity is lost.
\nOn this night, the days of our life are decreased by one.
\nEach of us should strive to awaken.
\nAwaken! Take heed! Do not squander your life.<\/p>\n

Zen teacher Rachel Mansfield-Howlett added another version.<\/p>\n

I beg to urge you everyone.
\nLife and Death is a grave matter.
\nAll things pass quickly away.
\nEach of you must be ever alert, never neglectful, never indulgent.<\/p>\n

Zen teacher Dosho Port added a literal rendition.<\/p>\n

Spoken to the Great Assembly:
\nThe great matter birth-death
\nImpermanence is swift!
\nIt\u2019s fitting for everyone to sober up! Wake up!
\nDo not let this opportunity pass by.<\/p>\n

Then Zen teacher Rosemary Taylor added one more version.<\/p>\n
