Roy Rogers<\/a> was born on this day in 1911. Being a liberal arts major I\u2019m never quite sure about the math, but I believe this means if he hadn\u2019t died in 1998, he\u2019d be 99 today\u2026<\/p>\n

For those too young to recall, he was a fixture of my generation\u2019s childhood.<\/p>\nhttp:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=lu7kM7rONBE?fs=1<\/a>\n

I really wanted to be Roy when I grew up.<\/p>\n

But, somewhere along the line, other things happened.<\/p>\n

And I became me.<\/p>\n

In fact I\u2019m pretty happy how things turned out. Well, on balance.<\/p>\n

Still, within the great rag bag of my heart, there\u2019ll always be a small spot for that sequined cowboy, Dale Evens, Trigger, that whole gang\u2026<\/p>\n
