\nOne of my small pleasures is to go to look up the history of a given day at Wikipedia. Today, in the year 800, it turns out, at least according to Wikipedia \u201cCharlemagne arrives at Rome to investigate the alleged crimes of Pope Leo III.\u201d<\/p>\n

Beyond the kettle and pot thing of emperor and pope, I found myself thinking of our human condition.<\/p>\n

And I find that lovely line from Hamlet, \u201cWhat a piece of work is man.\u201d<\/p>\n

Now, \u201cpiece of work\u201d has come to have two meanings, what a delight, and what a mess\u2026<\/p>\n

And Shakespeare\u2019s monologue captures both.<\/p>\n

Ain\u2019t it true?<\/p>\n

Of course these days for those of in particular connected to our Zen communities in North America, the mess is a tad easier to notice than the delight.<\/p>\n

And, while we have to notice the mess, it is also good to pause and recall the delight\u2026<\/p>\n
