{"id":86,"date":"2011-08-08T09:27:00","date_gmt":"2011-08-08T09:27:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.patheos.com\/blogs\/monkeymind\/2011\/08\/marking-the-end-of-a-war\/"},"modified":"2011-11-01T15:01:56","modified_gmt":"2011-11-01T19:01:56","slug":"marking-the-end-of-a-war","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.patheos.com\/blogs\/monkeymind\/2011\/08\/marking-the-end-of-a-war.html","title":{"rendered":"Marking the End of a War"},"content":{"rendered":"<!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC \"-\/\/W3C\/\/DTD HTML 4.0 Transitional\/\/EN\" \"http:\/\/www.w3.org\/TR\/REC-html40\/loose.dtd\">\n<html><head><meta http-equiv=\"content-type\" content=\"text\/html; charset=utf-8\"><meta http-equiv=\"content-type\" content=\"text\/html; charset=utf-8\"><\/head><body><div dir=\"ltr\" style=\"text-align: left\">It was strange going out this morning, the streets as empty as a Sunday.\n<p>Rhode Island still observes the second Monday in August as Victory Day, as in Victory over Japan Day.<\/p>\n<p>Of course the complexity for many hearts is how this victory was achieved through the immediate cause of dropping <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Atomic_bombings_of_Hiroshima_and_Nagasaki\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">two atomic bombs<\/a> on the Empire of Japan.<\/p>\n<p>I am not one of those who enjoys the certainty that either the bombings were necessary or that they were unnecessary. The fog of that war and its ending has not yet cleared. What I am certain of is that the deep karma of this conflict began long before the bombings, and have a long way yet to play out\u2026<\/p>\n<p>Such sadness on this quiet moist warm day\u2026<\/p>\n<p><\/p><\/div>\n<div class=\"blogger-post-footer\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1\" height=\"1\" src=\"https:\/\/blogger.googleusercontent.com\/tracker\/33904114-3786802537201848986?l=monkeymindonline.blogspot.com\" alt=\"\"><\/div>\n<\/body><\/html>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>It was strange going out this morning, the streets as empty as a Sunday.
