One of those little treats of our new web based world is Panhala<\/a>, who sends me a poem every day\u2026.<\/p>\n

Today I received something from the Buddhist<\/a> poet Jane Hirschfield\u2019s Lives of the Heart<\/span><\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u201cAlmost the twenty-first century\u201d \u2014
<\/span> how quickly the thought will grow dated,<\/span>
even quaint.<\/span> <\/span><\/p>\n

Our hopes, our future,
will pass like the hopes and futures of others.<\/span> <\/span><\/p>\n

And all our anxieties and terrors,
nights of sleeplessness,<\/span>
griefs,<\/span>
will appear then as they truly are \u2014<\/span><\/span> <\/span><\/p>\n

Stumbling, delirious bees in the tea scent of jasmine.<\/p>\n

This afternoon Jan and I drive out to Western Massachusetts for our annual Tanglewood<\/a> adventure, staying with some old friends, sleeping in, reading, attending of course, two Tanglewood events, weather permitting picking blueberries, maybe visiting a museum, maybe just hanging with old friends\u2026<\/p>\n

I\u2019m not sure, I think this is our eighth year.<\/p>\n

And I\u2019m aware of how our past adventures have blended into a sweet miasma of partial memories, events\u2026<\/p>\n

And, I\u2019m so aware, how quickly time passes by\u2026<\/p>\n

How these fleeting shadows are only that lingering memory, a hint of Jasmine\u2026<\/p>\n

To be enjoyed.<\/p>\n

But not grasped\u2026<\/p>\n
