Sexually Explicit Bishops Interviews<\/p>\n When:\u00a0 January 18, 2018\u00a0 \u00a0 10am<\/p>\n What:\u00a0 News conference<\/p>\n Where: \u00a0 50 West Club & Caf\u00e9 located at 50 W. Broadway in Salt Lake City.<\/p>\n Event: Protect LDS Children<\/p>\n Three speakers will be on the podium:<\/b><\/p>\n For decades, it has been common place for a significant number of LDS Bishops to pose questions of a sexual nature to children, all alone, behind closed doors.\u00a0 This practice has caused incalculable damage to our children.<\/p>\n The consequences range from childhood self-loathing all the way to sexual abuse and suicide.\u00a0The goal of Protect-LDS-Children is to bring a halt to these dangerous and damaging interviews.<\/p>\n The petition has now garnered well over 10,000 signatures.\u00a0 5,000 of the signers are from Utah.\u00a0 Many of them are active LDS members.<\/p>\n To date more than 1,000 survivor stories have been collected.\u00a0 They recount horrifying and heartrending interviews, the accompanying trauma and the lasting damage.\u00a0 All of this has been done to our children behind closed doors of bishop\u2019s offices.<\/p>\n The time has come to bring this practice to an immediate stop.\u00a0 How this will be accomplished will be a central part of the news conference message.<\/p>\n For more information contact:\u00a0 Sam Young (713) 306-9216<\/p>\n \u00a0<\/p>\n Sam Young Houston business owner, father of 6 daughters, decades of service to the LDS church<\/a> including bishop, bishopric counselor, ward mission leader, ward young men president, stake young men president, stake public affairs director, stake activities director, high councilor, high priest group leader, seminary teacher, institute teacher and several special assignments.\u00a0 Served full time mission in Guatemala\/El Salvador.<\/p>\n \u00a0<\/p>\n \u00a0<\/p>\n \u00a0<\/p>\n \u00a0<\/p>\n Sex Abuse Victims\u2019 Advocate; Western Regional Leader, SNAP, the Survivors Network<\/p>\n Named one of Orange County\u2019s 100 Most Influential People, Joelle is\u00a0the award-winning author of the bestsellers\u00a0\u00a0The Well-Armored Child: A Parent\u2019s Guide to Preventing Child Sexual Abuse<\/a>\u00a0(RiverGrove Books) and\u00a0The Power of Responsibility<\/a>\u00a0(based on her wildly successful\u00a0TEDx talk<\/a>.)
