As Salaamu Alaikum and hello all! \u00a0Well, just when I thought I was all caught up with my social media presence, the Interwebs goes ahead and invents something new! \u00a0About four months ago, Twitter created a new app called Periscope. \u00a0It is a live-streaming app that allows you to just say hello to the world on the spur of the moment. \u00a0\u2018Scopes can range from the trivial \u2013 \u201cI\u2019m Bored, Ask Me Anything\u201d \u2013 to the educational. \u00a0And of course you have to be careful not to stumble upon anything inappropriate. \u00a0I have noticed that people in Seattle tend to \u2018Scope about doing stuff while smoking pot. \u00a0It\u2019s like \u201cHa ha, it\u2019s legal here, ya jealous?\u201d.<\/p>\n

Of course, my objective is to educate people about Islam. \u00a0So far I have done about five or six \u2018Scopes, and only with the last one did I remember to save the broadcast to my camera roll so I could upload it to YouTube. \u00a0Because, you see, \u2018Scopes disappear after 24 hours. \u00a0If you are not able to save it, POOF! \u00a0It\u2019s gone.<\/p>\n

Being technically unsavvy, I have to learn things the hard way, but I think I have finally figured it out. \u00a0I am going to post a link to my latest broadcast here and I welcome you to take a look-see.<\/p>\n

Right now I\u2019m just going off the top of my head and answering questions, so the broadcast might be a bit stream-of-consciousness and disorganized due to the back and forth nature of having a live audience asking questions, but inshaAllah as I go I will make each \u2018Scope more or less stick to a particular topic.<\/p>\n

Now, if you watch or if you participate, you may notice that sometimes the non-Muslim questioners can be a bit aggressive or not appear to be asking respectful \u00a0questions, so I just ask you to be patient and not rise to the bait if someone is being rude. \u00a0If someone is becoming abusive or profane, I will block him or her at my discretion. \u00a0But if someone asks a question, even in a less than polite manner, I will do my best to answer, even the \u201chot button\u201d ones. \u00a0You never know which question and answer will provoke an \u201caha\u201d moment.<\/p>\n
