Bismillahi Rahmani Rahim<\/p>\n

Salaam Alaikum wa Rahmatullah<\/p>\n

Yeah, yeah, I know. \u00a0I put Zaid down to sleep half an hour ago. \u00a0I should have plopped down next to him right away. \u00a0I\u2019m not drowsy at the moment so I\u2019m waiting for the urge to snooze to kick in. \u00a0I figured I\u2019d visit my poor neglected blog and see if we\u2019re still on speaking terms.<\/p>\n

First of all, Ramadan Mubarak to all my Muslim brothers and sisters. \u00a0I pray you are having a beneficial Ramadan and that Allah accepts your fasts, your prayers, and your du\u2019as, Ameen. \u00a0Can\u2019t believe we\u2019re more than halfway through already, subhanAllah. \u00a0I\u2019m not really into the vibe this year as I\u2019m mostly homebound due to the new baby. \u00a0Just \u00a0not up to schlepping the whole crew to the masjid and then trying to keep them from kicking over other people\u2019s drink cups. <\/p>\n

I was fasting for the last few days, but today I had to break my fast. \u00a0I think the rigors of having a baby and then nursing, and not sleeping at night \u2013 I \u00a0promise <\/i>\u00a0I\u2019ll go to bed soon \u2013 have really taken it out of me. \u00a0The last three days I\u2019ve been flat out exhausted, peering through heavy eyelids at the world and slogging through a mental fog. \u00a0Today I could not stay up after seeing my older two kids off to school. \u00a0I was non-functional. \u00a0Now, when you have an elderly ailing father-in-law and three kids four and under in the house, that\u2019s downright dangerous. \u00a0I realized that I was not physically fit to fast and that I\u2019d better get up, eat, drink, take some vitamins, and put myself on track to recover fully from giving birth to my little sweetie Zaid. \u00a0Allah gives us this permission, and I tried to fast, but I think it would be wrong of me to continue and harm myself or allow my lack of focus to harm my kids. \u00a0And Allah knows best. \u00a0InshAllah I\u2019ll be able to make up the fasting later on.<\/p>\n

I really felt like a different person this afternoon after I\u2019d eaten. \u00a0Nothing like a handful of vitamins to wake you up. \u00a0That and coffee. \u00a0I was even able to play with the kids and do some things around the house. \u00a0Cleaned the bathroom, woo-hoo. <\/p>\n

Okay, enough dawdling. \u00a0I feel my eyelids just beginning to droop, so I shall toddle off to bed to get \u2013 oh, gee, one and a half hours of sleep before suhoor. \u00a0Even if I\u2019m not fasting, there are two others in the household who are. \u00a0I have to pour some water down their throats and put a turkey sandwich or something in their hands. <\/p>\n

Perhaps tomorrow I will revisit you, my poor patient blog, and write something profound and enlightening. \u00a0Or maybe not.<\/p>\n
