This morning, I received this question:<\/p>\n

I\u2019ve been with my partner now for 15 years, his family are quite strict, my partner obviously not so strict.<\/p>\n

We are finally getting married this year and are doing a Mosque wedding and a civil ceremony in a hotel. How does it work at the mosque? \u2013 I haven\u2019t asked his family and my partner isn\u2019t all that knowledgeable on it either!<\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

15 years ago, Khaled and I married in a small town Vegas Style<\/em>\u00a0establishment. \u00a0I say establishment, because it was a pretty room with white folding chairs and wedding-ish<\/em> decor. \u00a0It was not the lavish destination wedding \u00a0we daydreamed about and it was not the wedding overseas that seemed out of reach. \u00a0It was not a church and not a mosque. \u00a0It was a place where people got married, and they had a photographer. \u00a0Some of my family was there, Khaled invited a friend to be there because his family could not. \u00a0The lady who officiated our ceremony was also the owner of the establishment. \u00a0Afterwards, we all went out to dinner. \u00a0It was perfect for us. This business did what we needed it to do, because in our hearts and minds we were already married. \u00a0This was just a formality.<\/p>\n

Over the last two years, I\u2019ve been invited to a bridal shower and a wedding reception. \u00a0But I\u2019ve never witnessed a ceremony in the mosque. \u00a0So, I\u2019m turning to you for help. \u00a0What happens when you marry at the mosque?<\/p>\n<\/body><\/html>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
