What Does Our Lady Look Like<\/strong><\/span><\/h2>\n

From Medjugorje<\/strong>.hr \u00a0http:\/\/www.medjugorje.hr\/en\/medjugorje-phenomenon\/detailed-description\/<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n

Over the years people questioned the visionaries of Medjugorje about Our Lady\u2019s appearance, but the most successful inquirer by far was the author, Fr. Janko Bubalo, a Franciscan of the Hercegovinian province. <\/span><\/p>\n

He had followed the events associated with the apparitions from the beginning. For a number of years he heard confessions in Medjugorje\u00a0<\/span>and acquired an intimate knowledge of Medjugorje spirituality.<\/p>\n

One result of his interest is his book A Thousand Encounters with the Blessed Virgin Mary in Medjugorje (1985).<\/p>\n

It met with worldwide success and received a reward. In this book Vicka, the visionary, in answer to Fr. Bubalo\u2019s questions, gives a detailed account of her encounters with Our Blessed Lady. It is true that Fr. Bubalo had interviews with the other visionaries, but in the end decided to publish only the conversations he had with Vicka, because it seemed to him that she answered his questions in the most comprehensive way. Besides, what the other visionaries had to say did not differ essentially from Vicka\u2019s accounts.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

Time has passed and attempts at portraying Our Lady have multiplied. Many of those attempts have been contrary to what the visionaries have said. Fr. Janko, although up in years (born 1913), made another attempt. He sent a survey sheet to the visionaries in which he interrogates them about Our Lady\u2019s appearance. Most of the visionaries responded to Fr. Janko\u2019s attempt (Ivan Dragievi, Vicka Ivankovi, Marija Pavlovi Lunetti, Ivanka Ivankovi Elez, and Mirjana Dragievi Soldo). They testified to the survey number of their own answers by personal signatures at Humac in 1992. Jakov Olo did not fill out his survey sheet for justifiable reasons, but he agrees with what the others visionaries said and had nothing special to add.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

We now present the questions in full and the results of the visionaries\u2019 brief answers.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

From 18 to 20 years old.<\/span><\/p>\n

5. When she is with the Child Jesus does she look older?<\/span><\/p>\n

She looks as usual \u2013 she looks the same.<\/span><\/p>\n

6. When Our Lady is with you is she always standing or\u2026<\/span><\/p>\n

On some little cloud.<\/span><\/p>\n

The cloud is a whitish color.<\/span><\/p>\n

9. Have you ever seen her kneel?<\/span><\/p>\n

Never! (Vicka, Ivan, Ivanka )<\/span><\/p>\n

10. Naturally your Madonna also has her own face. How does it look: round or rather long \u2013 oval?<\/span><\/p>\n

It\u2019s rather long \u2013 oval \u2013 normal.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

Normal \u2013 rather light \u2013 rosy checks<\/span><\/p>\n

12. What color is her brow?<\/span><\/p>\n

13. What kind of lips does Our Lady have \u2013 rather thick or thin?<\/span><\/p>\n

Normal \u2013 beautiful \u2013 they are more thin.<\/span><\/p>\n

14. What color are they\u2019?<\/span><\/p>\n

Reddish \u2013 natural color.<\/span><\/p>\n

15. Does Our Lady have any dimples, as we people usually have?<\/span><\/p>\n

Ordinarily she doesn\u2019t \u2013 perhaps a little, if she smiles (Mirjana).<\/span><\/p>\n

16. Is there some pleasant smile ordinarily noticeable on her countenance?<\/span><\/p>\n

Maybe \u2013 more like some indescribable gentleness \u2013 there\u2019s a smile visible as if somehow under her skin (Vicka).<\/span><\/p>\n

17. What is the color of Our Lady\u2019s eyes?<\/span><\/p>\n

Her eyes are wonderful! Clearly blue (all).<\/span><\/p>\n

18. Are they rather big or ?<\/span><\/p>\n

More normal \u2013 maybe a little bit bigger (Marija).<\/span><\/p>\n

19. How are her eye-lashes?<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

A nice, little nose (Mirjana) \u2013 normal, harmonizing with her face (Marija).<\/span><\/p>\n

23. And Our Lady\u2019s eyebrows?<\/span><\/p>\n

Her eyebrows are thin \u2013 normal \u2013 more of a black color.<\/span><\/p>\n

24. How is your Madonna dressed?<\/span><\/p>\n

She is clothed in a simple woman\u2019s dress.<\/span><\/p>\n

25. What color is her dress?<\/span><\/p>\n

Her dress is grey \u2013 maybe a little bluish-grey (Mirjana).<\/span><\/p>\n

26. Is the dress pulled in around the body or does it fall freely? <\/span><\/p>\n

It falls freely.<\/span><\/p>\n

No, they are never visible.<\/span><\/p>\n

They are partially visible. <\/span><\/p>\n

61. How are they \u2013 which color are they?<\/span><\/p>\n

Natural color \u2013 clean cut fingernails.<\/span><\/p>\n

62. Have you ever seen Our Lady\u2019s legs?<\/span><\/p>\n

No \u2013 never \u2013 her dress always covers them.<\/span><\/p>\n

63. Finally, is Our Lady really beautiful, as you have said?<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
