To the surprise of many, the December issue of National Geographic Magazine<\/a> has put the Mother of Jesus Christ on its cover. The subtitle of the article is \u201cMary \u2013 the world\u2019s most powerful woman.\u201d The article has been quite a sensation to many who love the Blessed Mother.<\/p>\n

The article also, without hesitation, happily describes the incredible events taking place in Medjugorje. The National Geographic article contains\u00a0\u00a0no caveats or warnings about Medjugorje \u2013 no talk of forbidden activities \u2013 the author simply \u201creports\u201d what is happening at Medjugorje without prejudice.<\/p>\n

I have closely followed the events at Medjugorje for many years and I \u00a0always find myself \u00a0scratching my head upon reading news articles written by American Catholic press. \u00a0Close encounters with Medjugorje written by Catholic journalists are filled with dire warnings and sound bells of alarm- it\u2019s like they are handling \u00a0rattlesnakes. \u00a0I think Catholic journalists could learn a thing or two on reporting significant religious events of a mystical nature by reading the National Geographic article. They could learn something like: \u00a0just report the news.<\/p>\n
