Of course we need labels for things. Sometimes they are necessary and helpful. Things need names.<\/p>\n

But can we see how labels such as \u201cCanadian\u201d, \u201cAmerican\u201d, \u201cRussian\u201d, \u201cIndian\u201d can be divisive? Or labels such as \u201cChristian\u201d, \u201cMuslim\u201d, \u201cJewish\u201d, \u201cHindu\u201d, \u201cBuddhist\u201d\u2026 how they can be divisive? How they differentiate and separate? Can we see how such labels constrain us to think a certain way which leads to enmity towards other labels?<\/p>\n

I hold onto the label \u201cChristian\u201d unapologetically. But very lightly. I let others call me that. I seldom call myself that. I do so when people want to understand a little of my story. My history. But when it comes to what I am in the world and what I am doing, then I reject the label in favor of unity with all people.<\/p>\n

Love and labels don\u2019t mix. That is, if we love all of humanity, labels lose their currency.<\/p>\n
