$\"Next-Steps\"$ <\/a>Several months ago I attended a conference at a great church in South Carolina (NewSpring<\/a>) and walked away wanting to \u201cborrow\u201d an idea of theirs. It\u2019s called the 90-Day Tithe Challenge. The idea behind it is simple: take Malachi 3:10 literally, \u201cBring the whole tithe into the storehouse, that there may be food in my house. Test me in this<\/span>,\u201d says the Lord Almighty, \u201cand see if I will not throw open the floodgates of heaven and pour out so much blessing that there will not be room enough to store it.\u201d<\/b><\/p>\n

At Mt Vernon, we\u2019ve decided to do this. Here\u2019s the 90-Day Tithe Challenge: tithe (give 10% of your income to God) for 90 days. Give God\u2019s way. If, at the end of 90 days, you don\u2019t feel like God has blessed you (if he hasn\u2019t kept up his end of the bargain), then the church will refund all the money you\u2019ve given during that time. No questions asked. No one will show up at your door. No pastoral phone call. Give God\u2019s way, and if he hasn\u2019t blessed you, then the church will refund your money.<\/p>\n

This takes all the pressure off of us and puts it on God. And that\u2019s okay with him. God wants us to challenge him. He wants us to take a step of faith and allow him to open the floodgates of heaven to pour out so much blessing that we won\u2019t have room enough for it!<\/p>\n

The response we\u2019ve gotten (just in the past few days) has been incredible. People are stepping up. People are trusting God. I can\u2019t wait to see what God does in our midst over the next few months!<\/p>\n
