Quoting Quiverfull: A Watchdog?

Quoting Quiverfull: A Watchdog? March 2, 2014

by Nancy Campbell from Above Rubies – You Are A Watch Dog

Mother, you are the guardian of your little flock. It’s a 24/7 job! 1 Peter 5:8 tells us we must “Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour.” He wants to devour your children. He wants to get hold of their minds and infiltrate them with subtle deceptions against God and His truth. He wants to mar their spirits and take away their purity. He wants to destroy their souls.

This is why Satan hates mothers being in the home. They stand in his way. He wants them out of the way so he can do his work. He wants their children in day cares and the public education system that is becoming more and more foreign to everything that is biblical.

King David cried out that if we want our sons to be like plants grown up in their youth (mature and steadfast) and our daughters to be strong and beautiful like the pillars in a palace we have get rid of all that is foreign to God and His Word (Psalm 144:11-13).

Paul’s prayer for the Thessalonian believers is a great vision for your children. Pray and make it your passion that their “whole spirit, soul, and body be preserved blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ” (1 Thessalonians 5:23).

  • False dichotomy.
Mothers (stay at home or otherwise) are really not the only people who can lovingly guard over children, or teach them in the right ways. Satan’s influence is in the home of the stay at home mother too, not just at school.

This is the kind of deception called a red herring: You throw people off track with a scent they like. The scent, in this case, is how to raise children who love God, the trail she want to take mothers on, is staying at home. The two are not related.

  • Andi GreyScale

Sooo…. what about the atheist women who are stay at home mothers?….

  • Trollface McGee

Obviously lazy, good-for-nothing, heathens trying to steal money from good tax-earning Christians?

  • Trollface McGee

“This is why Satan hates mothers being in the home.”
Quote pl0x – and not the whole thing about the lion again – lions are God’s noble creatures and you shouldn’t leave your kids around them.

“….and the public education system that is becoming more and more foreign to everything that is biblical.”
Yeah, dinosaurs are taught as bird-like, whales are taught as mammals and we’re taught such horrendous morals like don’t stone your neighbour (unless your neighbour likes getting stoned).

And don’t get your morals from King David – kids should grow up to be adults, not botany or architectural elements.

  • persephone

Or murderers. Or rapists. Or regicides.

  • “Unless your neighbour likes getting stoned”

    I can’t say I’ve personally met anyone who’s into that …

  • So then I guess it was Satan that fixed me up with my husband who’s content to stay home and take are of the kids while I go to work. That would at least explain why my mother hates my husband …

  • Saraquill

So a stay at home mother is supposed to bring her children into the bathroom when she needs to pee, and forgo sleep in order to stare at her children at night Edward Cullen style?

A single person guarding one’s children on a literal 24/7 basis is going to fail quickly.

  • Em

Well, the lioness hunts while the male lions stay with the cubs, so they are clearly satanic as they fly in the face of God’s design.

  • Trollface McGee

I have a few, though not with that particular definition of “stoned.”

One day I would really, sincerely love to hear someone explain quoting David concerning childrearing in light of his track record and the statement that false teachers will be known “by their fruits.”
