Astronomers have used a unique process to determine that a star in our galaxy is nearly as old as the universe itself.<\/p>\n

Pray tell, how old is the universe?<\/em><\/p>\n

The star is 13.2 billion years old, while the universe dates back 13.7 billion years, according to the European Organisation for Astronomical Research in the Southern Hemisphere (ESO).<\/p>\n

Which brings up the question, at least in my mind: What preceded the universe?<\/em><\/p>\n

The organisation said \u201cthis star very clearly formed very early in the life of our own galaxy,\u201d which is believed to itself have formed soon after the Big Bang.<\/p>\n

Ah, yes. Which begs the question: \u201cIf a universe is born of a big ol\u2019 bang, and there\u2019s no one there to hear it, does it make any noise?\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n
