I<\/span> regularly get emails from folks, clergy and laity, who are disappointed and seemingly stuck where they are in their current church, denomination, communion, or whatever they call their non-denominational grouping.<\/p>\n

Let\u2019s just say they all go to Blank Church, within the Blank Communion.<\/p>\n

Now at Blank Church, in the Blank Communion, things are looking kinda bleak. Many of these folks have sent me emails saying, \u201cDear Father, I still belong to Bleakidy Blank. What should I do?\u201d<\/p>\n

Or: \u201cHELP! I\u2019m a member of Bleakidy Blank. I\u2019ve fallen and I can\u2019t get up!\u201d<\/p>\n

This is where the bad movie dialogue comes in. Did you ever see the movie TWISTER<\/em><\/strong>? Bill Paxton\u2019s character spends a good part of the movie saying the same lines, over and over. They go something like this:<\/p>\n

RUN! GET OUT! HURRY! RUN!
<\/em><\/strong>
And, that\u2019s my first reaction, my gut response, to these emails: RUN! HURRY! GET OUT!
<\/em><\/strong>
Then the letter goes on to state, \u201cI\u2019ve been a member of Bleakidy Blank for most of my life\u201d \u2026 or, \u201cI\u2019m a pastor with a wife and 4 kids\u201d \u2026 or, \u201cI\u2019m ready for Orthodoxy but my wife isn\u2019t\u201d \u2026 or, \u201cMy sins are way too big to squeeze into narrow ol\u2019 Orthodoxy\u201d \u2026 etc.<\/p>\n

So that\u2019s when I think: RUN! GET OUT! HURRY! RUN!<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

But, I know better. It\u2019s not so easy.<\/p>\n

Besides, when you\u2019re on the outside \u2026<\/p>\n

Listen to it all <\/strong> <\/span><\/em>H E R E<\/span><\/em><\/a>.<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n
