It\u2019s really not bad, not bad at all.<\/p>\nShe has researched with care \u2013 I did think \u201cbound books\u201d (codexes) came in a bit later, but maybe not. Her afterword describes her studies, and how she has indignantly discounted all the modernist bibcrit (my preferred ugly word for an ugly thing). I enjoyed that part!<\/p>\n
The picture of Christ and the Holy Family is not exactly the one I\u2019ve had, but it\u2019s certainly an acceptable one. Most questionable perhaps is her use of the apocryphal childhood miracles, though you can see how she has made them acceptable (not vindictive acts, but almost \u201caccidental\u201d ones), and certainly the death and resurrection of one of Jesus\u2019 playmates is enough to start the story off with a bang. \ud83d\ude42 Still, it contrasts with the gospel statement that His first<\/strong><\/em> miracle (and that one before time) is the one at Cana of Galilee.<\/p>\nAlso I was puzzled by the use of \u201cMary\u201d for the wife of Zebedee. Yes, there were several Maries running around in the extended family, but I thought Zebedee\u2019s wife was Salome, the \u201cmother of James and John\u201d?? Or do I remember wrong?<\/p>\n
I\u2019m glad Rice has converted back to Christianity. Now if she\u2019d just convert away from the Michael Moore\/Bill Clinton brand of Democracy which fills her site \u2026<\/p>\n
