The 6th Annual Brighid Poetry Festival<\/a> is an internet tradition to honor Brighid, Goddess of Smithcraft and Poetry.<\/p>\n

It is that time of year again, when bloggers around the world post a favorite poem in honor of Brigid, the Irish goddess and patron saint of smithcraft, poetry, and healing. Brigid\u2019s feast day is February 1st, so between now and then is the perfect time to publish a poem to celebrate.<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Here at Pantheon we decided to join in:<\/p>\n

The woman of seven stars goes hunting<\/strong>
\nby Sara Amis; originally published in Jabberwocky 3 by Prime Books in the US and in Datura: An Anthology of Esoteric Poesis by Scarlet Imprint in the UK.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a>Do you regret turning your ear to the dark,
\nyou who were born the morning star?
\nDo you regret it, peacock woman?
\nDid you forget yourself in your descent?
\nDid the gold rub off your skin?
\nDid you consume your warrior\u2019s heart?<\/p>\n

Queen of heaven they called you, the woman of largest heart
\nYour heavy scented hair grows dark
\nand curling like vines across your skin
\nWe look up at the falling star
\nBurning even in descent
\nAnd say yes, that is a woman.<\/p>\n

All lights may be extinguished, even yours, star woman.
\nYou surrounded emptiness with your heart,
\nand listening, began your descent
\nto the no return, the dusty dark.
\nYou came down like a visiting star
\nLike a royal barge, a queen, perfume on your skin<\/p>\n

I know you felt it on your naked skin
\nThe disdain of that envious woman
\nFor you, the morning and evening star.
\nYour pride, your arrogance, your willful heart
\nLike hers, the woman whose home is the dark
\nThis is where you come to in your descent<\/p>\n

You struggled to rise, in rage from your descent,
\nattacked her, and she removed your skin
\nHung your corpse above her gate in the deep dark
\nAll lights go out here, even yours, sky woman
\nThis is what happens when your heart
\neats dust and emptiness. You forget you were ever a star.<\/p>\n

Two companions come to guide you\u2014only flies, not a star;
\nSmall and wily enough to follow your descent
\nwithout notice, wise enough to weep and turn the heart
\nof your dust gathering sister and beg from her your skin.
\nLet the water of life turn you back into a woman.
\nLet your woman\u2019s feet bring you up from the dark.<\/p>\n

A heart can be shaped and burning like a star,
\nIt can open up the dark and plunge into descent
