<\/a>As I\u2019m sitting here working this morning, glancing over the headlines, seeing the depressing news friends are worriedly posting to Facebook and Twitter, and watching The Borgias, a historical show about one of the more corrupt popes in history and his family, I had a sunshiny distraction. I\u2019m keeping an eye on things for friends while they are enjoying the sunny Georgia coast. While all this doom and gloom swirl about a saucy little chihuahua is dancing and prancing hoping for a bit of bacon.<\/p>\n
When I step away from the computer and tv, from all this marvelous technology, I can see the dogs trotting through the yard, the blooming trees and bushes, and the daylight breaking over the land. It\u2019s green and soft and lovely. When we step away from man-made drama and man-made worries, we find the earth is still welcoming, giving and showering us with her great abundance.<\/p>\n
My friends have a goddess statue in their front yard, sickle blade and sheaf of wheat in hand. I spread the petals from my bridesmaid bouquet over and about her this morning. It felt proper and right, just as the world felt proper and right this morning when I walked away from the busy world of humanity\u2019s making.<\/p>\n
It\u2019s hard sometimes to find the bright path forward, but the trees will bloom regardless of who is president, regardless of the price of gas and regardless of how religions meddle in our affairs.\u00a0 Nature has her own agenda, from earthquakes to dogwoods blooming like a sudden snow in deep woods. The blossoms care not about the budget, the sunshine laughs at the price of gas and this little chihuahua just wants a bit of bacon and ignores the doings of popes. Sometimes we need to pay more attention to the sunshine and chihuahua. Nature has answers. Sometimes we need to stop focusing on our own species and listen to her.<\/p>\n
