I confess that I did not watch the Grammy Awards last night. I confess that I have been unable to watch since about 1998, about the time I started making records and living off songwriting and performing. I\u2019m sure it is some sort of personal defect, but although I love the performances, the awards themselves give me a rash. I typically go back the next day and watch all of the live songs & enjoy that part immensely. I think I spent too many years staring at the guts of the music business to take these things seriously.<\/p>\n
I confess that I\u2019m pretty sad that football is over for another year.<\/p>\n
I confess that the Daytona 500 is a mere 13 days away. I confess that my love of NASCAR makes no sense and knows no bounds.<\/p>\n
I confess that I watch Downton Abbey.<\/p>\n
I confess that I watched 10-11 pre-schoolers from the doorway of their classroom yesterday as they played together & learned about Jesus. It was amazing. I spent time watching all of our children\u2019s classrooms and was struck by two things. 1) how engaged they all were in the story of God. 2) how much they were being loved on and well led by their teachers and mentors. It was a thing of beauty.<\/p>\n
I confess that I keep trying to get into new music but can\u2019t. I keep gravitating toward old theological lectures instead.<\/p>\n
I confess that Barbara Brown Taylor is feeding my soul right now.<\/p>\n
I confess that I spent way too much time working on crazy Valentine\u2019s Day boxes with my sons on Saturday. We\u2019re talking 5-6 hours. We had so much fun & made these crazy creations. I love a task to work on w\/my kids.<\/p>\n
I confess that I think K-State will lose to KU tonight.<\/p>\n
I confess that I\u2019ve never been able to go to my left w\/the dribble.<\/p>\n
I confess that I have not yet decided what to give up for lent, but am open to suggestions!<\/p>\n
