He divides his study of ecclesiology into sections according to denominations first:<\/p>\n<p>\u2013 Eastern Orthodox<br>\u2013 Roman Catholic<br>\u2013 Lutheran<br>\u2013 Free Church<br>\u2013 Pentecostal\/Charismatic<br>\u2013 Ecumenical<\/p>\n<p>Next he considers the ecclesiologies of some of the leading theologians writing in this specific discipline:<\/p>\n<p>\u2013 John Zizioulas<br>\u2013 Hans Kung<br>\u2013 Wolfhart Pannenberg<br>\u2013 Jurgen Moltmann<br>\u2013 Miroslav Volf<br>\u2013 James McClendon Jr.<br>\u2013 Lesslie Newbigin<\/p>\n<p>The last section is working on some of the more specialized themes such as feminism, African church as well as Asia and Latin America. I\u2019m just starting in on the second section. This is a great quote from the section on Zizioulas:<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe Spirit is not something that animates a church that already exists. \u2018Pneumatology does not refer to the well-being but to the very being of the church.\u2019 In other words, pneumatology is an ontological category in ecclesiology.\u201d p100<\/p>\n<p>Yes! I love how much emphasis Zizioulas, Moltmann, and Pannenberg place on the role of the Holy Spirit. From Zizioulas, as an Orthodox Metropolitan it\u2019s not surprising.
