I confess that I rarely worry about the safety of my children, except when they are in someone else’s care. I confess that used to struggle to understand how people could be consumed with worry or fear… and then I had children.

I confess that June 24th Aaron Sorkin’s new show The Newsroom starts airing on HBO. I confess that I really want HBO now. I confess that having HBO would be very bad for me, as it would only increase the amount of time I waste watching television. The last time I got HBO was so I could watch the Hanks/Spielberg miniseries The Pacific, which was not great.

I confess that I am a NASCAR fan, and that this makes no sense in the context of the rest of my life. It’s one of the few movies I’ve seen lately for which the actual experience really lived up to the hype. I confess that I was disturbed by the number of 3-6 year old kids who were in the theater for the show. Does that seem young to anyone else? I confess that I hate my own tendency to judge other parents for any reason whatsoever… so I confess that last question was lame. It’s hard enough to love your kids and try to be a good mom or dad w/out someone passing judgment on your decisions.

I confess that I also saw Salmon Fishing in the Yemen, (Katie S. if you are reading this… the “the” is correctly placed J) and as much as I would like to really slam it – I have to admit that it was a decent movie. Granted, I had nearly everything that was going to happen in the movie figured out within the first 5 minutes. But there was something about the sympathetic Arabian Sheik that I was drawn to. It’s worth watching. Plus it’s at Glenwood & I really want people to support the art theaters.

I confess that my 2nd book Public Jesus will be released on this coming Friday.
