This is complicated. Because I am angry in a lot of ways. I’m angry that my fundamentalist roots caused so much pain and misunderstanding in my own life. I get angry about the expectations of Christians towards everyone else. It may seem as though I have anger towards evangelicals and fundamentalists, and I would be lying if I said that I never felt that way. But I recognize that there are wonderful Christians in every church, I know many of them. And I feel as though our differences have good influence on each other. In the end, I am not drawn to the Catholic Church because I am seeking an escape from the issues of the Protestant Church. Every Church has it’s issues, and I realize that people are largely the same regardless of what brand of Christian they are. I am drawn more and more to the Catholic Church because I am starting to feel as though they have thought through where to draw the line. I love the Catechism. I love the universality of the Catholic Church. And I have a hard time justifying my own interpretations of the Bible. I don’t think that I will ever have it all figured out. This will be a journey that I will continue on for the rest of my life, regardless of what church I end up in. But I do know, that in the middle of all my questions about God, if He is there, if He cares, what is the point of serving Him. I have found a lot of the reasons to still believe within the Catholic Church.

2.

After dreading the Dentist and freaking out about my first appointment in 5 years, it wasn’t as bad as I thought. I am now wondering if I just had a terrible dentist as a child/teen. My teeth were cleaned with very little discomfort, and the hygienist didn’t try to make me talk to her while she was poking around in my mouth. There was even a TV that distracted me with all the latest opinions on Miley Cyrus. I did have 2 small cavities, and got the first one filled this morning. My first filling in a very long time. Again, it wasn’t as bad as I thought. But maybe my definition of discomfort has changed since I’ve now had 3 natural childbirths.

3.

Baby girl is so so close to walking. She walks along the furniture, and the walls. She holds onto my pants and follows me around as I walk around the kitchen. She gets into EVERYTHING. It’s so funny to watch her reaction when I mess with her plans. Lately her favorite activity has involved playing in the toilet. (Ewwww!) So now when I see her speed-crawling towards the open bathroom door and close it before she can make it there she will screech angrily and bounce her little bottom up and down on the floor. It’s pretty hard not to laugh at her rage, but I guess I would get pretty upset too if I were her.

4.

The mosquitoes have been insane! My girls are now to terrified to go outside because “the bugs are going to get them”. I think this stems from the incident a week ago where hubby put the older 2 girls in the car and since it was warm left the windows down while he ran back into the house to get me. 3 minutes later when hubby, the baby, the diaper bag and I made our way out to the car, we could hear the screams the minute we stepped outside of the house. When I made it to the car through the swarms of mosquitoes I could see both children strapped in their car seats. Ms Drama persistently swatting bugs and Ms Action gripping her leg with both hands watching 3 or 4 mosquitoes bite her and screaming at the top of her lungs. After closing the windows and killing enumerable bugs, the damage was about 10 bites a piece. Ms Drama got one bite between her eyes (she had killed the mosquito and smeared it across one eyelid) that swelled up to the size of a ping pong ball. *Sigh* That child always looks like she was in a car accident after she gets bit. But at least she has the sense to kill the mosquitoes instead of screaming helplessly like her sister.

5.

Does anyone besides me comment on people’s blogs and then forget to fill out the stupid security code? I do this all the time. It’s not to bad if I remember to check and THEN fill out the code. But I can’t count the times I wrote a caring or insightful (at least I thought it was) comment and then exited the blog without checking to see if the comment had actually been processed. I’m not sure how many of my comments got eaten by the blog world before I figured this out.

6.

In last week’s Quick takes we ended up talking about addictive songs. Justin Bieber’s “Baby” and Katy Perry’s “California Girls” are pretty high on the list. But there is one song that you cannot get out of your head once you’ve heard it, my poor husband has had it stuck in his head for the entire day before. So without any further ado, here it is.
