Even though<\/span> we live in Canada right now, we have still enjoyed taking some time off and celebrating American Thanksgiving each year we\u2019ve been here. This year my\u00a0Hunnie made the Turkey and mashed potatoes and I made the\u00a0Apple\u00a0Crumble Pie and Pumpkin Pie.\u00a0Everything was delicious and I think we have enough leftovers to make through the weekend! The days at our house have been peaceful and simple lately. Finding and making new recipes, picking up toys and washing dishes, reading books and watching movies. <\/p>\n

We had our first snow of the year, <\/p>\n

<\/a><\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
and everyone trooped outside to \u201chelp\u201d shovel. <\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
<\/a><\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
Time goes by so quickly, it seems only yesterday that we had these outside our door..\ufeff<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
<\/a><\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
And now those same flowers are asleep under a layer of snow.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
<\/a><\/div>\n

<\/p>\n

<\/div>\n

Holiday Traditions\u00a0have only gotten\u00a0more enjoyable as the kids get old enough to participate. This year we each made one of these adorable gumdrop turkeys<\/a>.<\/p>\n

<\/a><\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
And then ate them.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
Throughout out this last week we each added a paper leave to our thankful tree each day, <\/div>\n
and it got pretty full!<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
<\/a><\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
We used a different shape and color for each person\u2019s leaves, and simply asked the kids \u201cwhat makes them happy\u201d and wrote\u00a0it\u00a0down for them (we had to\u00a0guess for the babies)\u00a0and then we\u00a0talked about\u00a0how these are things we are grateful for.<\/div>\n

We had quite a variety<\/span> of things we were thankful for. Here\u00a0is what was written on our leaves,\u00a0if you look closely I think you can see each person\u2019s love language shining through.<\/p>\n

Melissa:<\/strong> Foot rubs from my Hunnie, Photos, Wrestling on the floor, Play, Books, Traditions, Freedom.<\/p>\n

My Hunnie:<\/strong> Our children, Naps, New Jacket, Supportive family members, Fun new hobbies, My sweetheart, Vacation.<\/p>\n

4 yr old Ms Action:<\/strong> Unicorns, Rainbows, Toys, Decorations, Blankie, Castles, My bed.<\/p>\n

3 yr old Ms Drama:<\/strong> Making cookies, Hugs from my parents, Candy, Nighttime when we sleep, Going to the store, Princesses, Lipstick.<\/p>\n

2 yr old Ms Pooky:<\/strong> Cheese, Boinga\u2019s (her word for frogs<\/em>), Blankie, Movies, Books (this one we used twice on accident, she really loves her books!<\/em>), Candy.<\/p>\n

6 month old Baby Boy: Full tummy, Bouncy, Sisters, Blankie, Toys, Sleeping, Going Places. (We really should have added \u2018thumb\u2019 to this list now that I think about it, he is always sucking his thumb.)<\/em><\/p>\n

It was so much fun putting it together and hearing what our kids are thankful for, and a good reminder that\u00a0the things we are grateful for or the \u201cthings that make us happy\u201d\u00a0usually have nothing to do with buying things at the store or trying to please other people.\u00a0I plan on continuing this discussion even when it is not Thanksgiving.<\/p>\n
