{"id":3949,"date":"2013-05-16T14:10:55","date_gmt":"2013-05-16T18:10:55","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.patheos.com\/blogs\/philosophicalfragments\/?p=3949"},"modified":"2013-05-16T14:12:42","modified_gmt":"2013-05-16T18:12:42","slug":"the-best-reaction-ever","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.patheos.com\/blogs\/philosophicalfragments\/2013\/05\/16\/the-best-reaction-ever\/","title":{"rendered":"The Best Reaction Ever"},"content":{"rendered":"<!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC \"-\/\/W3C\/\/DTD HTML 4.0 Transitional\/\/EN\" \"http:\/\/www.w3.org\/TR\/REC-html40\/loose.dtd\">\n<html><head><meta http-equiv=\"content-type\" content=\"text\/html; charset=utf-8\"><meta http-equiv=\"content-type\" content=\"text\/html; charset=utf-8\"><\/head><body><p>I write most often at this blog on the faith dimensions of social, cultural and political issues. \u00a0But every now and then I can\u2019t resist sharing a little from my family life. \u00a0So from time to time I\u2019ll write about <a href=\"http:\/\/www.patheos.com\/Resources\/Additional-Resources\/Why-We-Have-Children-Timothy-Dalrymple-01-26-2011.html\" target=\"_blank\" class=\" decorated-link\">Why We Have Children<\/a> or <a href=\"http:\/\/www.patheos.com\/Resources\/Additional-Resources\/Why-We-Have-Children-Timothy-Dalrymple-01-26-2011.html\" target=\"_blank\" class=\" decorated-link\">Why We Marry<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>One of the weapons in my daddy arsenal, something I can pull out to entertain children, is my patented Duck in a Propeller noise. \u00a0This is produced by making a quacking duck sound (think Donald Duck) while grabbing your cheeks and shaking them vigorously. \u00a0Curiously, I had never used this noise before for my youngest daughter, who is now about 20 months old. \u00a0Last night, after I\u2019d dressed her for bed and prepared to give her a bottle, I busted out the Dying Duck \u2014 and here\u2019s the response I got:<\/p>\n<p>http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=bYxQdPHbGjU<\/p>\n<p>Oh for the days when I could respond with such wide-eyed wonder, such pure enjoyment, to the simple things in life.<\/p>\n<\/body><\/html>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I write most often at this blog on the faith dimensions of social, cultural and political issues. \u00a0But every now and then I can\u2019t resist sharing a little from my family life. \u00a0So from time to time I\u2019ll write about Why We Have Children or Why We Marry.
