Last night<\/a>,\u00a0\u201cThe Daily Show\u201d host Jon Stewart spoke out in support of Noah, who is slated to replace Stewart\u00a0on the Comedy Central show later this year. But Noah still faces several comedy critiques.<\/p>\n

On Wednesday, the American Jewish Congress\u00a0 launched an online campaign<\/a>\u00a0calling for Comedy Central to send Noah packing. And the Chicago Tribune\u2019s Clarence Page\u00a0 wrote on Wednesday<\/a>\u00a0about the unwritten rules of comedy etiquette.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt is funnier to punch up, as the old saying goes, than to punch down,\u201d Page writes. \u201cDeflating the pompous and powerful can be hilarious. Ridiculing the weak is just sad.\u201d<\/p>\n

The New Republic<\/a>\u00a0declared Jewish humor officially\u00a0finis<\/i>\u00a0in light of the Internet tempest over Lena Dunham\u2019s recent cringe-inducing\u00a0New Yorker quiz<\/a>\u00a0entitled \u201cDog or Jewish Boyfriend: A Quiz.\u201d Dunham\u2019s piece had an odd, 1967-ish throwback tone to it, leaning hard\u00a0 on the stereotype<\/a>\u00a0of a spoiled hypochondriac Jewish-American Prince.
