Okay, I\u2019m really angry about the news coverage about the Affordable Care Act (Obamacare). Yes, the law is complex, convoluted, and complicated.<\/p>\n

So why isn\u2019t anyone observing that the reason for this is that our bought-and-sold politicians were too cowardly to do the right thing, which is single-payer, universal coverage? Health care is a human right.<\/li>\n
Why isn\u2019t the media asking what alternatives the critics propose? Are they suggesting that we simply should leave people out of health care, drop those with pre-existing conditions, and let insurance companies cancel care when people lose their jobs or get too expensive? Healthcare is a human right for all, not just the healthy and wealthy.<\/li>\n
Why doesn\u2019t someone challenge the people who keep saying that folks without health insurance can simply go to the emergency room? That is deadly to those who are having an emergency, and it is the most expensive way to treat people. Health care is a human right, and you should not make the sick sit in an emergency room for eight hours in order to receive compassion and care.<\/li>\n
Why doesn\u2019t someone point out to those who are whining because they should not be forced to get health insurance that what they are doing is forcing other taxpayers to pay their health insurance? If they get cancer, they will get care for which they could never pay, so the taxpayers who provide those hospitals for them will pick up their tab.<\/li>\n
Why isn\u2019t someone pointing out the LIE that the United States has the best medical care in the world? Not even close. What we DO have is the most expensive. Health care is a human right, not a profit source for a cannibalistic economic system that exploits the poor and dying.<\/li>\n
Most of all, why aren\u2019t pastors asking Christians to consider what would Jesus do if someone who couldn\u2019t afford insurance came to him needing healing, or had a preexisting condition, or were too arrogant to think they\u2019d ever need healing?<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
Yes, the affordable care act is broken. There is ONE reason: GREED. Only in the United States do we believe the sick and dying should be a source for profit rather than a focus of our compassion. Everywhere else in the developed world, health care is a human right, and, because Jesus healed all who came to him, good or bad, rich or poor, Jesus must have thought it was a God-given human right.<\/p>\n
