Texas Rejects Aid From Canada, Says ‘Send Prayers’ Instead

Texas Rejects Aid From Canada, Says ‘Send Prayers’ Instead September 1, 2017

Do Facebook prayers count? Texas Secretary of State rejects aid from Canada, asks for prayers instead.

When the good people of Quebec offered blankets, beds, water, and other much needed relief effort to those devastated by Hurricane Harvey, Texas Secretary of State Rolando Pablos rejected the generous offer, and asked for “prayers from the people of Quebec” instead.

CBC News reports Quebec’s Minister of International Relations Christine St-Pierre says she spoke with Texas Secretary of State Rolando Pablos earlier this week, “offering to send equipment and crews to help restore power and to provide blankets, beds, pillows and hygienic products.”

However, Pablos rejected the generous offer, and instead requested “prayers from the people of Quebec.”

More from CBC News:

St-Pierre says she spoke with Texas Secretary of State Rolando Pablos Tuesday early afternoon, offering to send equipment and crews to help restore power and to provide blankets, beds, pillows and hygienic products.

Above all, St-Pierre said she called to voice Quebec’s concern for Texans caught up in the disaster.

“It was a conversation about how devastating the situation is and we want to express our support to the people of Texas,” she told CBC News.

Pablos declined the aid for now, instead asking for “prayers from the people of Quebec,” the minister said. “He was very touched by the fact we called him.”

It is hard to believe that all those currently suffering in the aftermath of Hurricane Harvey have no use for this most generous offer from the citizens of Quebec. Indeed, for Texas Secretary of State Rolando Pablos to reject the Canadian’s generous offer and ask for prayers instead is simply asinine.

As Hemant Mehta, writing for Friendly Atheist, notes:

Christ. Take the help, Texas. If God could help, He would’ve blown the hurricane away before it hit land. Now is not the time to rely on a higher power.

Bottom line: After Hurricane Harvey devastates “The Lone Star State,” Texas Secretary of State Rolando Pablos rejects aid from Canada, and asks for prayers instead.

Face meet palm.
