More of that Christian love: The Trump administration is now deporting children with cancer – U.S. immigration services have informed families with children in need of life saving care they must leave in 33 days.
The Week reports:
Federal immigration officials have told immigrant medical patients who have “medical deferred action” to leave the U.S. within 33 days, Commonwealth Magazine reported on Monday, citing attorneys from the Irish International Immigrant Center representing the families. The Trump administration reportedly ended the medical deferred action program on Aug. 7.
The patients, many of whom are children, are reportedly being treated for serious illnesses such as cancer, cystic fibrosis, HIV, cerebral palsy, muscular dystrophy, and epilepsy.
The Trump administration has ended a policy that allows undocumented immigrants to stay in the United States and avoid deportation if they are receiving life-saving medical treatments, in a change that advocates have criticised as inhumane.
The policy change, which also takes away protections for immigrants whose family members are receiving life-saving care, was announced this month in letters sent to families informing them of their new standing.
Noting that the new policy is “a death sentence” for sick children, Common Dreams reports:
The Trump administration has reportedly ended a program which allowed immigrants with serious illnesses to temporarily remain in the U.S., a move by the White House that rights advocates decried as “a death sentence” for children receiving treatment for cancer, HIV, and other life-threatening diseases.
The move is just the latest example of a Trump administration that goes out of its way to be cruel and inhumane.

Obviously, for the Trump administration, and the conservative Christians who support it, the cruelty in the immigration policy is a feature, not a bug.
Commenting on the cruel development, Democratic Senator Ed Markey blasted the Trump administration for “inhumanity,” while calling the change in policy an attempt to “terrorize sick kids with cancer who are literally fighting for their lives.”
Senator Markey lamented:
This is a new low for Trump. The administration is now literally deporting kids with cancer.
A powerful call to action from @SenMarkey to ALL Americans to fight to save the critically ill patients whom this administration wants to deport to their deaths. Not now, not ever! pic.twitter.com/oAGKCvArli

The ACLU has pledged to fight the situation in court.
Bottom line: The Trump administration is now deporting children with cancer and other deadly illnesses, effectively sentencing these children to death.
