Good riddance: David Koch, a deplorable man who used his vast wealth to hurt millions of Americans, is dead. And the Internet celebrates.
Koch, a right-wing conservative pig who spent a fortune trying to deny Americans access to health care, education, and a clean environment, is dead at the age of 79.
The New York Times reports:
David H. Koch, who amassed a multibillion-dollar fortune with his brother Charles from the corporate behemoth they ran and then joined him in pouring their riches into a powerful right-wing libertarian movement that helped reshape American politics, has died. He was 79.
David Koch is survived by his brother, Charles Koch. Their father, Fred Koch, was a vicious white supreamcist who made the family fortune building oil pipelines for Russian dictator Joseph Stalin. Raw Story reports:
The brothers inherited the seed money for their holdings from their father Fred Koch, who made his first fortune building oil pipelines for the Russian dictator Joseph Stalin in the 1930s. Back in the states, Fred Koch supported racial segregation and white supremacist groups like the John Birch Society.
David Koch, like his father, was a moral monster, a despicable human being who used his vast fortune to fund countless conservative causes that caused real harm to his fellow Americans and the environment. His nefarious actions and character did not go unnoticed at the time of his death.
The following is a sample of the reactions via Twitter:
David Koch wanted to abolish public schools, Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid and rent control. He financed groups that denied the research on climate change. He funded the Tea Party. And he used dark money to support right-wing causes and Republican candidates for office. https://t.co/x08wiaOh9p

REMINDER! When horrible people die it’s ok to say they’re horrible! “Don’t speak ill of the dead” is horrible advice! Dying doesn’t suddenly make someone no longer culpable for the immense harm they caused. David Koch was bad when he was alive AND IS STILL BAD NOW

David Koch is dead. But his legacy of destroying the environment, fostering income inequality and manipulating our democratic process to favor minority rule will live on for a long time.#FridayFeeling

David Koch has died. In lieu of flowers please construct a shadow network of tax deductible shell companies to donate to the further perpetuation of environmental destruction and income inequality.

David Koch had a dream, which was to make things easier for himself and a few friends while also making things significantly worse for everyone else on the planet. He is gone, but now that work falls to all of us. Today, whenever you get the chance, harm someone vulnerable.

Billionaire industrialist David Koch is dead.
He deployed his stupendous fortune funding climate denial in the years when the science was clear and there was still time to avert catastrophic warming. He died as fires raged from the Amazon to the Arctic.https://t.co/edFPH7DC0P

When a bad person dies they don’t suddenly become a saint. Their legacy of destruction and pain doesn’t just float away. David Koch is dead, we have to deal with the fallout of his villainy for hundreds of years. So he donated to a museum. So fucking what?

I often wonder how I’ll be remembered when I’m gone. After today, I feel better knowing at least, I could never be as hated as David Koch.
Hey Twitter, how do you REALLY feel?
