I think all of us suffer from the same diseases to some degree. They are spiritual diseases of our times, and of the fallen human.<\/p>\n

\nPope Francis has revealed that he prays to the English martyr St Thomas More every day.<\/p>\n
In his annual end of year address to Vatican officials the Pope said that there is a prayer to the saint for good humour which he prays daily saying that a healthy dose of humour in our daily lives is very beneficial.<\/p>\n
Pope Francis also outlined \u201c15 diseases of the Curia\u201d which included the diseases of mental and spiritual petrification; existential schizophrenia; spiritual Alzheimer\u2019s and the disease of the \u201cfuneral face,\u201d reports Vatican News.<\/p>\n
The Pope said that \u201cspiritual petrification\u201d was when men \u201close their internal peace, their vivacity and audacity, choosing to hide under papers and become procedural machines.<\/p>\n
He also described \u201cexistential schizophrenia\u201d as the disease of \u201cthose who live a double life\u201d and endure a \u201cspiritual emptiness\u201d which cannot be filled with degrees or academic titles.<\/p>\n
He explained to diplomats that \u201cspiritual Alzheimers\u201d was a \u201cprogressive decline of spiritual faculties\u201d which \u201ccauses severe disadvantages to people\u201d, making them live in a \u201cstate of absolute dependence\u201d on their, often imagined, views.<\/p>\n
