This resolution has no power under the law.<\/p>\n<p>From <a href=\"https:\/\/thehill.com\/homenews\/senate\/518061-senate-passes-resolution-reaffirming-commitment-to-peaceful-transition-of?fbclid=IwAR0zrIZjElqjfToa4B3wK9YgnH9MEtfXuVujk_3OywK-mkYVKK7bEpiiZWE\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">The Hill:<\/a><\/p>\n<blockquote><p>The Senate passed a resolution\u00a0on Thursday reaffirming its support for a peaceful transition of power, one day after<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><span class=\"rollover-people\" data-behavior=\"rolloverpeople\"><a class=\"rollover-people-link decorated-link\" href=\"https:\/\/thehill.com\/people\/donald-trump\" data-nid=\"261287\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">President Trump<\/a> refused to commit\u00a0to such a transition next year if he loses in the November election.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong>In the non-binding resolution,<\/strong> the Senate reaffirms \u201cits commitment to the orderly and peaceful transfer of power called for in the Constitution of the United States.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>It also throws the Senate\u2019s support behind the idea that \u201cthere should be no disruptions by the president or any person in power to overturn the will of the people of the United States.\u201d \u00a0(emphasis mine)<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<\/body><\/html>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The United States Senate passed a resolution today that gave voice but no force to what the resolution said was their support for a peaceful transfer of power after the November 3 election.
