I was so struck by it that I decided to share it with you. Here it is:\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\nWho may worship in your sanctuary, Lord?<\/strong><\/p>\n\u00a0 \u00a0 <\/span>Who may enter your presence on your holy hill?<\/strong><\/p>\nThose who lead blameless lives and do what is right,<\/strong><\/p>\n\u00a0 \u00a0 <\/span>speaking the truth from sincere hearts.<\/strong><\/p>\nThose who refuse to gossip<\/strong><\/p>\n\u00a0 \u00a0 <\/span>or harm their neighbors<\/strong><\/p>\n\u00a0 \u00a0 <\/span>or speak evil of their friends.<\/strong><\/p>\nThose who despise flagrant sinners,<\/strong><\/p>\n\u00a0 \u00a0 <\/span>and honor the faithful followers of the Lord,<\/strong><\/p>\n\u00a0 \u00a0 <\/span>and keep their promises even when it hurts.<\/strong><\/p>\nThose who lend money without charging interest,<\/strong><\/p>\n\u00a0 \u00a0 <\/span>and who cannot be bribed to lie about the innocent.<\/strong><\/p>\nSuch people will stand firm forever.<\/strong><\/p><\/blockquote>\nPsalm 15 describes<\/strong> an honorable person, someone who can be trusted with power and the lives of other people.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\nRead Psalm 15 carefully. It\u2019s a simple outline of honorable behavior. It\u2019s mild. It doesn\u2019t get into the particulars of righteous living before God. It only addresses the basic, obvious requirements of honorable living.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\nWho may enter Your Presence on Your holy hill? Those who don\u2019t lie, slander, extort, take bribes, or lionize those who do these things.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\nThat\u2019s straight forward and easy. It\u2019s the basics of honorable living, the baseline of what it takes to enter into relationship with God. You must be an honest, honorable human being to even walk in the door.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\nHow many American Christians can honestly say they fit this description? How many of us can say we even try to fit it? How many American clergy can say they make any attempt at all to teach their flocks to value these qualities?<\/p>\n
Anyone who doesn\u2019t live the basic teachings of this Psalm is unfit for human company.<\/p>\n<\/body><\/html>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
