Traffic chaos, says the mayor, is inevitable. But you know \u2013 it\u2019s not like Rio is hosting the next <a href=\"http:\/\/www.fifa.com\/worldcup\/preliminaries\/index.html\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">World Cup<\/a> or <a href=\"http:\/\/www.olympic.org\/rio-2016-summer-olympics\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">Summer Olympics<\/a> or anything like that.<\/p>\n<p>If you have a spare moment this morning, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.americanprogress.org\/events\/2012\/06\/religiousliberty.html\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">tune in to the live stream of \u201cReligious Liberty: What It Is and Isn\u2019t,\u201d<\/a> an event hosted by the Center for American Progress and featuring our very own Dr. Robert P. You can also follow conversations about the event on Twitter at #CAPReligiousLiberty.<\/p>\n<p>Republicans will likely have to moderate their policies on certain social issues if they want to appeal to Millennials \u2013 but <a href=\"http:\/\/www.theatlantic.com\/politics\/archive\/2012\/06\/why-the-millennials-arent-a-slam-dunk-for-the-democratic-party\/258465\/\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">Democrats may also have to change their tune on Medicare and Social Security<\/a> to retain their current advantage among this crucial demographic in future elections. <a href=\"http:\/\/publicreligion.org\/research\/2012\/04\/millennial-values-survey-2012\/\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">Nearly half (48%) of younger Millennials (age 18-24) say<\/a> they have a favorable opinion of the Democratic Party, while 32% say they have a favorable opinion of the Republican Party.<\/p>\n<p>New York\u2019s Jewish population is on the rise, thanks in large part to the growing numbers of Orthodox Jews. For more on Jews\u2019 perspectives on a wide variety of issues, including the values they see as the core of their Jewish identity, check out the <a href=\"http:\/\/publicreligion.org\/research\/2012\/04\/jewish-values-in-2012\/\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">2012 Jewish Values Survey<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>As Gabrielle Giffords\u2019 seat in Congress <a href=\"http:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/business\/ron-barber-wins-special-election-to-fill-gabrielle-giffordss-seat\/2012\/06\/13\/gJQAHSKwZV_story.html\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">passes on<\/a> to another Arizona Democrat, violent rhetoric is <a href=\"http:\/\/2012.talkingpointsmemo.com\/2012\/06\/giffords-shooting-violent-imagery-guns-campaigns.php\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">creeping back into the 2012 campaign<\/a>. Shortly after Giffords was shot in January 2011, <a href=\"http:\/\/publicreligion.org\/research\/2011\/01\/only-1-in-5-give-moral-state-of-the-union-high-marks\/\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">a\u00a0majority of Americans said<\/a> the harsh rhetoric contributed to her targeting.<\/p>\n<p>Could Republicans\u2019 tough talk on immigration <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2012\/06\/13\/us\/politics\/evangelical-groups-call-for-new-stance-on-illegal-immigration.html\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">hurt or help their chances<\/a> among evangelicals? <a href=\"http:\/\/publicreligion.org\/research\/2012\/05\/immigration-fact-sheet\/\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">Fifty-four percent of white evangelicals\u00a0say<\/a> that best way to solve the country\u2019s illegal immigration problem is to both secure the borders and provide an earned path to citizenship.
