Welcome to the Morning Buzz, PRRI\u2019s morning dose of religion-related news with a shot of data \u2013 because what doesn\u2019t liven up a morning round-up like some public opinion numbers? Apparently NPR is as enamored of pie as I am, because they have yet another article<\/a> on the mouthwatering dessert \u2013 this time, exploring the creative ways that cash-strapped cooks have filled their \u201cdesperation pies.\u201d Who knew you could make lemon meringue pie with vinegar?<\/strong><\/p>\n

Republican leaders began to criticize Mitt Romney this week<\/a>, with a high-profile editorial in the Wall Street Journal declaring that Romney is \u201cslowly squandering\u201d the opportunity to defeat a weak incumbent.<\/p>\n

It looks like Democrats and Republicans can agree on one thing<\/a>: the four months until the end of the presidential campaign will be exhausting. It\u2019s telling, also that Independents are far more likely to say the election season will be exhausting and annoying, rather than informative and exciting. Aren\u2019t they the people who decide the election, or something?<\/p>\n

According to the National Review, this was a summer of compromise<\/a> for Congress \u2013 but that\u2019s about to change.<\/p>\n
