My wife Nanci kept a journal during the four years she battled cancer. Most of her journal consisted of quotes and verses she copied down from her reading, but she also shared some of her own profound insights.<\/p>\n
Nanci sometimes felt anxious throughout those difficult years, but she instructed herself by God\u2019s words, and the anxiety was replaced by peace and hope and rest in the great God she knew to be her Father. She understood that Jesus is not only her Savior and Lord, but her friend.<\/p>\n
May God\u2019s words in these verses, and Nanci\u2019s reflections after each of them, encourage you to keep trusting Jesus today:<\/p>\n
\u201cCall upon me in the day of trouble; I will deliver you, and you shall glorify me.\u201d (Psalm 50:15)<\/strong><\/p>\n
Lord, I trust you. I call upon you. O God, hold fast to me! Preserve me by your power. <\/em><\/p>\n
Sustain my faith. Don\u2019t let me waiver in unbelief. Shine your irresistible light of glory into my heart and grant me to hope fully in your grace and steadfast love for me. <\/em><\/p>\n
\u201c\u2026in the coming ages he might show the immeasurable riches of his grace in kindness toward us in Christ Jesus.\u201d (Ephesians 2:7)<\/strong><\/p>\n
My prayer is that God might help me to understand even a portion of His immeasurable grace and kindness in this life!<\/em><\/p>\n
\u201cHis divine power has granted us all things that pertain to life and godliness.\u201d (2 Peter 1:3) <\/strong><\/p>\n
I have everything I need through Christ\u2019s power!<\/em><\/p>\n
It is a shame to waste time on anxiety, fear, worry, and resentment. My calling is to invest myself in getting to know God, serving others, telling others about Him; telling God I love Him; and glorifying Him!<\/em><\/p>\n
\u201cSome trust in chariots and some in horses, but we trust in the name of the LORD our God.\u201d (Psalm 20:7)<\/strong><\/p>\n
Some trust in percentages, statistics, and doctor\u2019s success rates. But I trust in God\u2019s control of and plan for my life!<\/em><\/p>\n
\u201cOh, taste and see that the LORD is good! Blessed is the man who takes refuge in him!\u201d (Psalm 34:8)<\/strong><\/p>\n
I have tasted the goodness of God on this cancer path, and it is sweet. He is faithful, trustworthy, peaceful, very near, in complete control, filled with love and mercy, and thoroughly attentive.
