I think I must be a moron, because I\u2019ve been reading parts of the Obama Economic Stimulus Bill and I can\u2019t figure out how some of this stuff qualifies as \u201cEmergency Economic Measures\u201d. I\u2019m sure that to some people, these are worthy causes, but they are not economics issues. My first complaint is how difficult it is to actually get a copy of the proposed bill. I\u2019ve been looking all weekend and can only find excerpts of it. If the government is going to blow a TRILLION DOLLARS of our money, shouldn\u2019t they have to tell us what they\u2019re going to blow it on? Without someone to sneak you a copy, you\u2019d have better luck finding a virgin in a frat house. Wasn\u2019t this supposed to be a \u201cnew era of transparency\u201d? <\/p>\n

Here are the places we are shoring up our economy that I can find:
. $50 million outlay for the National Endowment for the Arts
. computerize all Americans\u2019 health records in five years
. weatherize 2.5 million homes
. $87 billion package to help states with Medicaid costs that would allow states to expand their family planning services (That\u2019s almost $90 billion for condoms and the Pill. This helps the economy\u2026 how? Speaker Pelosi says<\/a> that if we have fewer children then we\u2019ll have fewer bills. Of course she uses bigger words to say it.)
. $44 million for repairs at the Agriculture Department headquarters in Washington.
. $200 million to rehabilitate the National Mall. (That\u2019s $200,000,000 for grass seed, y\u2019all.)
. $360 million for new child care centers at military bases.
. $1.8 billion to repair National Park Service facilities.
. $276 million to update technology at the State Department.
. $500 million for the Transportation Security Administration to install bomb detectors at airports.
. $600 million for General Services Administration to replace older vehicles with alternative fuel vehicles.
. $2.5 billion to upgrade low-income housing.
. $400 million for NASA scientists to conduct climate change research.
. $426 million to construct facilities at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
. $800 million to clean up Superfund sites.
. $6.7 billion to renovate and improve energy efficiency at federal buildings.
. $400 million to replace the Social Security Administration\u2019s 30-year-old National Computer Center.<\/p>\n

And my personal favorite: $600 million to train primary care physicians, nurses, and dentists to \u201cprepare them for universal health care system\u201d. Can you say socialism?<\/p>\n

These are social agenda issues, and have nothing to do with sagging credit markets or banks that won\u2019t lend money. They do nothing to help people in danger of losing their homes or create new jobs. They don\u2019t take pressure off of the private sector and give it the freedom and flexibility to keep or hire new employees. <\/p>\n

These are just liberal tagging along on the coat tails of a massive new welfare bill and hoping that people are too panicked to notice them. Well, lucky for you, I\u2019m a bit obsessed and I noticed them. I\u2019ll bet a lot of other people did too. I\u2019m sending an email to the president telling him that a financial crisis is not the time for him to begin spending lavishly to bring about the Marxist utopia of his dreams. We see what he\u2019s trying to begin here and we, the people who pay his check and for his cost of living, get that he won, but we\u2019re still in charge\u2026so knock it off!<\/span><\/p>\n<\/body><\/html>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
