The longer I blog, the more I read, the more I become convinced that there\u2019s an underground network of Christian people who have decided that laughter is a sin.\u00a0 I\u2019ve been chastised for my sarcasm, seen others ridiculed for their satire, and read the comments of too-many-to-count who seem to think that faith equals no sense of humor.<\/p>\n

Well, I hate to break it to those people, but God\u2019s funny.\u00a0 It\u2019s often a dry sense of humor which makes you question if He was serious or not, but sometimes it\u2019s flat out slapstick\u2026.and the sarcasm?\u00a0 I love<\/i> it!\u00a0 Do you realize that if sarcasm were a sin there\u2019d be no Irishmen in Heaven?\u00a0 It\u2019s a fact.\u00a0 I know it is. Trust me.\u00a0 I\u2019ve met quite a few Irishmen<\/p>\n

Don\u2019t those holier-than-thou types read their Bibles?\u00a0 They never read where Batholomew says of Jesus \u201cCan anything good come out of Nazareth?\u201d\u00a0 Jesus\u2019 friends were funny.\u00a0 If you really read what they\u2019re talking about as they\u2019re following Him around\u2026there\u2019s a lot of joking going on.\u00a0 So why do these modern day Christians think there\u2019s something wrong with laughing?<\/p>\n

\u2018Cause God\u2019s funny.\u00a0 Only a guy with a sense of humor could think this up<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n

Amorphophallus titanum \u2013 <\/b><\/i>roughly translates to \u201cgiant misshapen male genitalia\u201d proving that scientists are funny, too<\/td>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n

Isn\u2019t it gorgeous?\u00a0 Deep purple and huge<\/i>\u2026it can grow to be over 10 feet high.\u00a0 It looks like there need to be Oompah Loompas circling it and dancing.\u00a0 I\u2019d almost love one in my yard.<\/p>\n

Almost.<\/p>\n

Because it smells like rotting flesh.\u00a0 Yes, that\u2019s the corpse flower.\u00a0 It might be pretty, but you\u2019d better bring your gas mask when you go to see it.<\/p>\n

He\u2019s poking fun at us. I know He is because it\u2019s crazy rare and only blooms once every couple years, so when it does people will line up for hours to go see it.\u00a0 Hours in the heat of summer to see something which makes you want to retch?\u00a0 I\u2019m pretty sure the joke\u2019s on us!<\/p>\n

\u201cAh,\u201d they\u2019ll say, \u201cit\u2019s not really funny.\u00a0 It\u2019s an adaptation for\u2026\u2026\u2026\u2026.\u201d<\/p>\n

What? I stopped listening.\u00a0 I have no time for that kind of nonsense.\u00a0 And it is<\/i> nonsense.\u00a0 What kind if Heaven do the non-laughing ones look forward to?\u00a0 It sounds like boring afternoons at my Grandma\u2019s house listening to the clock tick away the painfully slow seconds while Grandpa snored in his easy chair.\u00a0 Although come to think of it\u2026\u2026they had no air conditioning in South Texas\u2026\u2026in the Summer\u2026\u2026maybe it\u2019s a better example of someplace else.\u00a0 (Not that I didn\u2019t like my grandparents, non-humorous people, but those were the most boring afternoons ever<\/i>.)<\/p>\n

I don\u2019t know who they\u2019re wanting to hang out with for all Eternity, but I want to hang with the guy who made this stuff<\/p>\n

It\u2019s an animal.\u00a0 I swear it is.\u00a0 It\u2019s totally gross looking but I can\u2019t stop staring at him\u2026.her\u2026\u2026.it<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n

So those of you laughing along, keep yucking it up.\u00a0 God wants us to laugh or he wouldn\u2019t have given us so many reasons.<\/p>\n

For those of you shaking your heads in disapproval or readying your fingers to let me know all the ways I\u2019m wrong\u2026\u2026\u2026I can take it.\u00a0 I\u2019m all ready for you.\u00a0 I put on my big girl panties this morning and everything.\u00a0 But first can you answer a couple questions for me?\u00a0 What does your Heaven look like, and why on Earth would I want to go there?<\/p>\n
